This Little American Went to Market
We woke up early (to our alarms after we realized we had to stop sleeping until 1pm) to a cold, wet morning to walk through the open air markets a few streets away. It was by far the best day I've had. We got cash and haggled our way through vendors and made friends with the guy who sold me my new bag. Also, I almost bought dishtowels so yes, I am some Italian/tourist version of my mother. (Shout out to Miss Kimmie's love of dish towels.)
The building in the center of it all is the Mercato Centrale, where we thought we would find fresh produce, (I don't know why) but it was actually a really nice little group of cafes and a few small shops with cookbooks, wine, and cheese. It was amazing. Mostly because it was warm, but also becuase it was cool.
This is the ceiling of the market and by far the best part. LOOK AT IT. It's cool. Also it reminds me of Chelsey (Shout out to Chelsey Reg). I don't know why, but I think she would love this.
This is a sad, rainy photo of the open air market.
After lunch, the sun came out and Madi and I walked to Ponte Vecchio, which was awesome and also awesome.
This is definitely one of my new favorite spots. With the sun shining today, we were thriving walking around town. Florence really is amazing. Also I took this creepy but necessary photo of these guys eating pizza.
This is obviously the best place to eat lunch in the world and we plan on doing so soon and often.
